Dino (on right, Gary
the enforcer on left) has been entrusted by
the surfers as the keeper of tribal memory. He is the
resident Beacon's expert of surf lore, how surfing used
to be at Beacon's and all the "old time"
surfers.
Grommets, form far and near, gather around the
summer nights beach
fire to hear how 15 foot waves, perfect barrels, would
grace Beacon's every day. How, after an invigorating
surf session, he would go out and catch lobster and
abalone and cook it on the beach.
Dino, known as "The
Duke" to his surfing brethren, knows all the
shapers, the reefs, the surf shops and which boards
surfers ride in which condition. And his son, Rino,
helps to keep this site up and running.
